Cebu Pacific increases Manila-Bacolod flights due to rising travel demand

Budget carrier Cebu Pacific said on Friday it will increase Bacolod-bound flights from Manila from twice a week to nine times a week starting November 15 due to increasing travel demand.

The airline announced a daily Manila-Bacolod flight via 5J 485 departing Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 9:20 a.m. and a return flight from Bacolod Silay Airport via flight 5J 486 at 11:15 a.m.

To support vaccination efforts within the Negros Occidental region, two out of the nine Manila-Bacolod flights weekly will be reserved exclusively for fully-vaccinated passengers from November 16, 2021 to January 15, 2022. These flights under Flight No. 5J 475 are scheduled every Tuesday and Thursday departing Manila at 2 p.m.

Five-kilogram excess baggage fees for fully-vaccinated passengers to and from Bacolod with pre-purchased baggage will also be waived by the airline from Nov. 15, 2021 to Jan 15, 2022.

“We express gratitude to the good office of Governor Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson for approving our request to add more flights to and from Bacolod. We are indeed very happy with this development as we believe these additional flights will contribute to the economic recovery not only of Negros Occidental but of Region VI as well,” Cebu Pacific chief corporate affairs officer Michael Ivan Shau said in a press release.

“We know that these steps will pave the way for us to rebuild the public’s trust and confidence in air travel, and we will continue to work closely with the national and local governments concerning these efforts,” he added.
