The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Thursday called on customers to report to the authorities if they find that restaurants are being lax in implementing health protocols such as not checking proof of vaccination of those dining indoors.
At the Laging Handa briefing, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said establishments are “supposed to assign full-time safety and health protocol officers,” which will remind customers about the proper wearing of face masks as well as social distancing.
“Ang ating mga kababayan, ‘pag may nakikita silang hindi sumusunod, for example sa mga restaurant required vaccinated sa indoor operation… sinabi ng customer ‘vaccinated ako’ pero hindi hinanap ang card ‘yan po is a ground for telling us, the authorities…na itong restaurant na ito ay hindi sumusunod sa requirement,” Lopez said.
(If they see an establishment violating, for example, a restaurant not checking dine-in customers’ vaccination cards, that could be a reason to tell the authorities that a certain restaurant is not following requirements.)
“Ang requirement talaga ay maghahanap ng proof of vaccination. Things like this, ‘yung hindi pagsunod sa face mask [requirement], distancing ‘yan ay pwedeng i-report ng kahit sino,” he said.
(The requirement is to ask for proof of vaccination. Things like this, such as not following the wearing of face masks and distancing protocols, can be reported by anyone.)
Lopez said customers can report to the DTI erring establishments or restaurants through its consumer hotline 1384.
A complaint received will lead to an audit of an establishment to check its compliance with safety protocols, he said. — VBL, GMA News
