Customers of Maynilad Water Services Inc. will continue experiencing water service interruption due to fast consumption and high turbidity level of water supply, the concessionaire’s spokesperson said Monday.
Interviewed on Dobol B TV, Maynilad spokesperson Jennifer Rufo said the entire concession will be affected from Caloocan in the north to Cavite in the south, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
“Yes po. Tuloy-tuloy po siya. Bale pinipilit po nating gawing off-peak lang po yung interruptions para bigyan po tayo ng pagkakataon na punuin yung ating mga reservoir in time for peak demand the following day,” she said.
(Yes. It will continue. We are trying to implement interruptions during off-peak hours so we can fill up our reservoirs for the peak demand in the following day.)
Rufo said the consumption is increasing due to the hot weather and the water in reservoirs is depleting more easily than usual.
In the southern part like in Muntinlupa, the water supply from Laguna Lake is also limited due to the spikes of turbidity, according to Rufo.
Maynilad is building treatment facilities and preparing deep wells to add more supply of water for its customers, Rufo added.
On Saturday, Maynilad announced water service interruptions until March 16, which may be extended, according to Rufo.
Maynilad serves customers in the cities of Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Malabon, Manila, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, Quezon, Valenzuela.
It also covers certain areas in Cavite such as the cities of Bacoor, Cavite, and Imus, as well as the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA News
