PAL cancels Manila-Hong Kong flights until Jan. 21

Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) on Thursday announced the cancellation of its flight to Hong Kong after the latter banned incoming flights from eight countries, including the Philippines.

In an advisory, PAL said it has canceled the following flights from Manila to Hong Kong “in compliance with temporary Hong Kong government restrictions affecting all flights from several countries”:

  • PR 300 – Manila-Hong Kong scheduled on January 6, 7, 9, 12, 13, 14, 16, 19, 20 and 21

The flag carrier said it will revert to normal Manila-Hong Kong schedules starting 12:01 a.m. on January 22, 2022.

However, PAL said its PR 301 Hong Kong-Manila flights will continue to operate every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday as scheduled.

“PR301 HKG to MNL flights are operating. Our PAL planes will fly into Hong Kong as all-cargo flights. Then the return journey to Manila -PR301 – shall carry passengers,” said PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna.

Hong Kong on Wednesday announced a two-week ban on incoming flights from Australia, Canada, France, India, Pakistan, the Philippines, Britain and the United States as it tightened restrictions amid fears of a fifth wave of COVID-19 infections.

PAL said affected passengers may opt to convert their tickets to travel credits equivalent to the unused base fare of your ticket valid for one year year from date of issuance, rebook to another flight within 60 days from the original flight, or seek refund without penalties. — LA, GMA News
