AirAsia Philippines is set to resume flights to Bangkok, Thailand and Bali, Indonesia, which are key markets for the budget carrier.
In a statement, AirAsia Philippines said it would resume its two times weekly flights to Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok, every Wednesday and Sunday, beginning July 17.
Starting July 17 as well, the airline will resume its twice-weekly flights to Denpasar/Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali on Fridays and Sundays.
“Reopening our Bangkok and Bali routes is part of our aggressive route expansion strategy as we sustain the momentum to recovery,” said AirAsia Philippines CEO Ricky Isla.
“In terms of our pre-pandemic figures, Bangkok ranked seventh among the most visited destinations, with Bali claiming the 10th spot out of the 32 AirAsia Philippines domestic and international routes.”
Citing its pre-pandemic data, AirAsia Philippines said that a total of 139,296 guests, or 92% passenger load factor, flew to Bangkok in 2019.
Meanwhile, 90% of the passenger load, or equivalent to 110,694 tourists, flew to Bali during the same period.
AirAsia Philippines said flight Z2 287 leaves Manila via NAIA Terminal 3 at 5:35 p.m. and arrives in Bangkok at 8:05 p.m.
Its return flight Z2 288 leaves Bangkok at 8:35 p.m. and arrives at NAIA T3 at 1:05 a.m. the next day.
Meanwhile, AirAsia Philippines said its Z2 231 flight departs NAIA Terminal 3 at 9:15 p.m. and arrives in Bali at 11:15 p.m.
Its return flight to Manila Z2 232 leaves Bali at 11:40 p.m. and arrives in Manila at 3:40 a.m. the following day. —VBL, GMA News
